What to Expect

Whether you’ve attended church your entire life or have never been to church, we know it’s not easy visiting a church for the first time. You’re probably not sure what to expect and have a lot of questions. We at First Baptist Church want to give you the best experience possible.

Here’s some information that should help

When are services?

Sunday School: 9:30am
Sunday Morning Worship:  10:45am to Approximately Noon
Wednesdays: 6:00pm
If you have children, we recommend that you arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to give you enough time to check in for childcare or nursery.
Community Groups: Meets mostly in homes on Sunday evening at 6:00 pm but some meet at different times throughout the week to better fit some schedules.  If you would like more information on our community groups, please contact the church office.

What should I wear?

Whatever you want! We welcome jeans, t-shirts, shorts, ties, tuxedos…you get the idea. Come as you are. All we ask is that you dress modestly.

How do I get there?

First Baptist Church is located at 450 E. Springfield Rd.  Springfield Rd. is right off of Highway 47/30.  For more detailed information, visit our Directions page.

What happens when I arrive?

We have two parking lots.  One is located behind the church and one is located across Springfield Rd. in front of the church.  Greeters will be at each entrance to help direct you and answer any questions that you may have.  While you wait for the service to begin, feel free to grab some coffee and a doughnut, enjoy the music, read about upcoming events in the bulletin, and complete as much information as you feel comfortable sharing on the Connection Card (attached to bulletin).  These will be collected during the offering.

What’s service like?

First of all, you won’t be pointed out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way.  You will have a meaningful, stress-free experience…and you’ll have a lot of fun.

Each service is about 75 minutes.  The first 10 minutes of the service you’ll get to enjoy worshipping through music and fellowship.  We’ll have the words to each song up on the screen, so you can sing as much as you feel comfortable! During this time the pastor will welcome everyone and make any necessary announcements. After the fellowship time we will spend another 15 minutes worshiping together in song.  Then, after the offering, our Pastor spends a few moments with our children which we call “Children’s Challenge”. Then the Pastor will present a message which lasts about 25-30 minutes.  Each message takes eternal Biblical principles and applies them to your life in very real and practical ways.
