Hello,

I am Jim Muir, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of St. Clair.  You’ve made a wonderful first step in turning from sin and self and giving your life to Jesus Christ.  Jesus said of your decision in Luke 9:23,

If anyone wants to come with me, He must deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.   As you learn to turn away from sin (deny self), obey His Word and the Holy Spirit (take up your cross daily), and let Jesus lead your life (follow Him), your personal relationship with Jesus will grow.    A true believer in Christ has a growing relationship with Him.

So, the question is, “Now What?” or “What does the Bible say I am supposed to do?”  The Biblical answer is to tell others of what Christ has done for you and begin growing in the Lord.   Your next step then is Baptism to demonstrate your obedience to Jesus, (Mark 1:9; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:41) and let everyone know you have begun a new life with Christ.  I have included a short Bible study, “Your Next Step of Faith, Baptism” to help you understand Biblically, why Baptism is so important.

The next step in following Christ is to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ.  To help you understand what you are to be and do, I would love to give you a Bible.   I would ask you to begin reading at least one chapter a day of the Gospel of John so that you can learn who Jesus is and what He wants to tell you.  If you want to learn more, you can start with the Gospel of Matthew and read all of the New Testament through the Book of Revelation.

I would encourage you to begin attending one of our adult Bible studies. These groups meet every Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. We have ladies groups, men’s groups and couples groups. The atmosphere is very informal and relaxed. It is the best way to get to know others in our fellowship and start connecting with other believers to help you grow.   We also have several Community Home Groups that you can be a part of. I am also available to meet with you one on one.   My deepest desire is to see you grow with Jesus to become a mature believer.

Please feel free to call us at 636-629-2407, office, to schedule your Baptism or inquire about our Bible study groups.   I will be praying for daily as you as you take these next steps with Jesus.   May God richly bless you.

Christ is King!
